brooks brighton 10 k run!

Hello!

Just a quick word on the race on Sunday...I did achieve a personal best of 45.55 minutes. But I am nevertheless disappointed, I thought I'd easily manage under 45 minutes. Well, next time then!
The weather was weird as well, the wind was blowing hard and it always looked as if it would start to rain every second. At around 5 k into the race I started to slow down and no matter how hard I pushed myself to keep the pace, I failed. I lost my precious 55 seconds there I think...Well, fortunately I managed to get faster again at the 7 km marker!
I do wanna thank my supporter team here:). thanks for cheering and just being there guys, it helped me to stay focused;)! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Here are some pictures from the race, the expression on my face is pretty intense...!But then again, this was not a beauty contest but competition!

visitors and second week of training!

The training this week went down nicely and on Sunday I did go on a nice 20 km (turned out to be 23 km) run together with the Running Club and Jerry.
Jerry and I ran down to Brighton Pier to meet up with the group and we ran up to Rottingdean and had a look at the nice windmill that is up there! There it is:

'

To get there we ran along the Brighton Marina along the cliffs and you had a splendid view over the open sea. You had to be careful about the waves tough!;) After running back to the Pier again we had done around 18 k, so there were 2 left to go. Jerry and I decided to run back home to the house together and the run turned out to be 23 km long. I noticed that I do no longer have any difficulty with these distances. I do feel sorry for Jerry tough and I officially apologize that he has to participate in my running madness! And a big thank you for not letting me down and actually staying with me during the whole distance!

This is all I can think of right now. At the moment I am thinking about the race I entered which will take place in two days. It is a 10 k run along the Brighton seafront and I do hope to get a personal best out of it! I hope I can participate because I twisted my ankle this morning, only slightly but no wonder this happens to me!
I rest till Sunday and let myself be surprised by what the race brings!

Week 1 of 24

FINALLY

training has officially started and I kicked it off with a 21 km run. Yes I know it planned on doing 30...but no disappointment here because the schedule said: Monday: resting day. So, this is me again respecting the rule of resting.
No, I do not believe in resting even tough I should. I try to convince myself to respect my 3 resting days per week. (But 3 days...come on!)

On Wednesday I did approximately 10 km with the Running Club and I took over the faster group which was fun because I could go on my full speed and talk with other non English people about Halloween crazyness in England, I mean...come on? What's up with all the fake blood anyways?

Yesterday (Thursday) I did some Interval training which consisted in 10 minutes running-in and then 5 x 800 meters in a time of 4:10 per km. Interval training is definitely not as easy as you think, you constantly need to force yourself to keep going at such a full speed. And even in btw the intervals you are not allowed to stop but just told to run slower. It is a good way of improving your stamina and your respiration, so I hope I'll manage to convince myself to do this every time it is on the schedule.

So, this is it up until now. I feel good and happy that the first week is on!
I'm off to my Friday morning run:) (again, not on the schedule...I can't just NOT go)
